AmeriCorps Position for LEIC-BSC

The Lake Erie Islands Chapter of the Black Swamp Conservancy will again be hiring an AmeriCorps Environmental Steward Intern for the summer of 2015. It is a ten week program. Interns are provided a small stipend and a Segal Educational Award ($1,132 at the completion of the internship-to be used for qualified student loans or tuition.) You must have a dedication and interest in environmental stewardship and community service.  The intern will work on such projects as trail maintenance, educational programs, invasive plant management, grant writing, design of signs and brochures, work with social media, wildlife and plant surveys, nest box monitoring, etc. for the Conservancy and the Put-in-Bay Township Park District on both South and Middle Bass Islands depending on the skill set of the intern. Applicants must be at least 17 years old. Preference is given to university students but a high school education is all that is required to use the education award. It is necessary to already have island housing as housing costs here are prohibitive. If interested, contact Lisa Brohl  at leicbsc@gmail.com. We have had great interns in the past (Colleen O’Brien, Leah Bilski, Carmen Levand, and Chloe Nostrant) and look forward to another good partnership this summer!
