Author and fifth generation islander Christine L. (Christie) Ontko grew up with a large extended family. Now she taps into that experience in the first of a planned series of books, which will share with readers, short stories of her life as an island girl on Put-in-Bay. The first book is entitled “Island Girl…The Family Parker” and is written in a style that is easy to read and inspirational, too. Photos abound, and the reader gets the unique experience of peering into the life of one of the island’s oldest families.
They will be for sale at her shop Freshwater Remedies this upcoming season for $9.50. A portion of the profits will benefit the Lake Erie Islands Chapter of the Black Swamp Conservancy.
The books can also be purchased online at www.FreshwaterSensations.com or by calling 419-366-1036
